Gemma Arterton Imagined as Gemma Albright in The PRIYA CLUB Novels by Ashley Barron
Gemma Arterton imagined as character Gemma Albright in the Priya Club novels.

Born in London, England, Gemma Albright moved to the United States at the age of eleven.

Gemma’s best friend within the Priya Club is Tessa Marshall.

GEMS is a fictional talk show hosted by the character Gemma Albright in the Priya Club novels.
Gemma Albright films her talk show, GEMS, at a studio in Los Angeles, California. By her own demand, her contract requires two shows to be recorded each day of scheduled filming. Keeping to this extra long workday makes it possible for her to have nearly four months off a year, plus weekends. Without this ability to “live a normal life,” Gemma would walk away from her show.

Speaking of GEMS, fame came to Gemma young. She had a leg up, yes, but that only got her in the door. You could credit her drive, her work ethic, her ability to assemble an Emmy-winning team, but you’d be wrong. The woman who hosts the show is simply the grown-up version of that girl who walked into a new elementary school, in a new country, and knew every person there by the end of the first week. She’s the one you want to have a cup of tea with, trade opinions with, vacation with. She’s the one you want to marry your brother, if you have one.

As a second generation television personality, Gemma learned from her parents the importance of staying grounded in one’s life by spending quality time with people who perceive you as their equal, and no higher. In Gemma’s world, those people fall into two categories: family, and the Priyas.

Etta James – “At Last”

“At Last”
At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

Oh yeah yeah
At last

The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Oh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
for you are mine…

At Last

She knows the words by heart, Gemma does. She hums them during her morning meeting, and while washing her hair, and when running on the treadmill. She sings them in her sleep. It’s never a conscious act; the words live in heart, in her breath. They find their own way out.

The words belong to a night, and a man, that brought her fully into womanhood. Her first love. All these years later, with their song playing in her heart, she waits for their paths to be joined once more. Only, this time, it will be forever.
